Database Information:
A few important points should be noted regarding this database:
The FRD includes reviews spanning from 2006 to the present.
Whenever a page or website was no longer functional, I relied on the Internet Archive.
To ensure language consistency of some websites, I occasionally utilized direct links from Google Translate.
The completion of this Database is still in progress. The database now consist of more than 8695 entries. This database will continue to improve and expand over time.
Filtering Options:
The current availability of filtering options is quite limited. While I am committed to making diligent efforts to incorporate more advanced filtering options in the future, it is important to note that my knowledge of HTML is quite limited, ranging from minimal to very poor. I am open to receiving suggestions; however, I must confess that implementing most of them may pose challenges for me.
It is important to note that you can only select one option at a time within the same column. Please choose either the manual input option or the dropdown list, but not both for the same column.
Currently, there are no Boolean operators available (such as AND, OR, NOT) for filtering. I will definitely try to enhance this feature in future updates to provide more advanced filtering capabilities.
Occasionally, I have included the version information within the model column. While there may be a possibility of adding a dedicated column for version details in the future, it is not currently among the top priorities.
Battery Information:
It is essential to understand that while all battery formats listed are compatible with the respective flashlight models, they may not necessarily be the optimal choice. Certain battery formats can impose limitations on charging options or accessibility to different levels of brightness. Additionally, some batteries may cause excessive heat buildup. It is advisable to carefully read the reviews to ensure a comprehensive understanding.
Some rare AA/AAA lights are exclusively designed for Alkaline or NiMH batteries and cannot be used with lithium primaries. It is crucial to thoroughly read the reviews before making a purchase. The Nitecore LA30 lantern is an example where lithium primaries cannot be used.
Interchangeability between battery formats exists; however, the database does not include an exhaustive list of all possible options. Instead, it highlights preferred or tested choices. For example, a 21700 flashlight could also utilize the 18650 format with the appropriate adapter, as the latter format is smaller in both length and width, with matching voltage. This concept applies to various formats. Nevertheless, it is crucial to verify the required amperage. A poor selection would involve using a 14500 battery in a 26800 flashlight (provided an adapter can be found).
For the Battery Format column, be aware that 2-4 represents 2 to 4, while 2/4 represents 2 or 4.
All flashlights using 16340 size batteries can use CR123A batteries, as these have a lower voltage, so no stress.
Review Information:
The reviews within this database represent the opinions or understanding of the reviewers regarding flashlights. Therefore, you may come across occasional surprising claims if the reviewer has partial experience.
